Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SkabStudio uses personal information when you use member accounts, community features, tools and Premium membership.

Information we use

• Account information, including your email address, account identifier and authentication information.
• Profile information you choose to provide, including Driver Tag, display name, bio, profile picture, banner, region, team and social link.
• Community content you submit, including garage cars, ride submissions, images, artist credits, comments, ratings, community chat, direct messages and reports.
• Premium membership information, including subscription status and Stripe customer or subscription identifiers needed to verify and manage Premium access.
• Email addresses submitted for Studio Updates.
• Limited technical, session and security information needed to operate, protect and troubleshoot the service.
• Information you provide when contacting SkabStudio about support, moderation, billing or privacy.

SkabStudio does not store your full payment-card number. Payments are handled by Stripe.

Why we use your information

We use personal information to create and operate accounts, provide profiles and garages, run community chat and direct messages, publish content you choose to submit publicly, operate ride submissions, comments and ratings, verify Premium membership, provide tools, maintain security, prevent abuse, moderate the community, diagnose technical problems, provide support and meet applicable legal or financial obligations.

Lawful bases

Where information is needed to create your account, provide member features, operate Premium membership or provide another service you request, we generally process it because it is necessary to provide that service or perform our agreement with you.

Where we process information to protect SkabStudio, prevent abuse, maintain security, moderate the community, troubleshoot problems or operate the community effectively, we may rely on our legitimate interests in running and protecting the service.

Where information must be retained to comply with a legal, accounting or regulatory requirement, we process it as necessary to comply with that obligation. Where processing requires consent, you may withdraw that consent.

Public and private community content

Information you choose to publish through public profiles, garages, Members’ Rides, comments or similar public areas may be visible to other visitors. Community Chat messages are visible to participating community members.

Direct messages are intended to be private between participants and are not displayed publicly. Information may still be accessed where reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, security incidents, reports or legal obligations.

Service providers

SkabStudio uses third-party services including Supabase for authentication, databases and backend services, Stripe for Premium payments and subscription management, and Cloudflare for website hosting, delivery, performance and security.

These providers may process information necessary to provide their services under their own applicable privacy terms and obligations. SkabStudio may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, investigate fraud or abuse, protect users or the service, or establish or defend legal claims.

SkabStudio does not sell personal information and does not currently use personal information for third-party targeted advertising.

International processing

Some service providers may process or make information accessible outside the United Kingdom. Where applicable law treats this as a restricted international transfer, an appropriate transfer mechanism or safeguard will be relied upon where required.

Browser storage and similar technologies

SkabStudio uses browser storage, authentication/session information and similar technologies where needed for features such as sign-in, account sessions, garage state and preferences. Some information may remain on your device until it expires, is replaced or is cleared through your browser.

SKAB TRACE

SKAB TRACE is designed to operate locally on an Android device. The current version does not include Android internet permission and does not send the reference image or trace settings selected within the app to SkabStudio. Trace settings are stored locally on the user’s device.

Retention and deletion

Personal information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is used. Account and profile information may be retained while the relevant account remains active. Community information may be retained while needed to operate community features and maintain the integrity of discussions, ratings, reports and moderation.

Payment and subscription records may need to be retained for accounting, legal or dispute-resolution purposes. Security, moderation and abuse-prevention records may sometimes be retained for longer where reasonably necessary to protect SkabStudio or its members. Information that is no longer required should be deleted or anonymised where appropriate.

Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights including the right to:

• Ask what personal information SkabStudio holds about you and request a copy.
• Ask for inaccurate personal information to be corrected.
• Ask for personal information to be erased in certain circumstances.
• Ask for processing to be restricted in certain circumstances.
• Object to certain processing.
• Request certain information in a portable format where that right applies.
• Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
• Complain about how your personal information has been handled.

These rights are not absolute and depend on the circumstances. SkabStudio may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Privacy requests and complaints

If you have a privacy question, want to exercise a data-protection right, or want to make a data-protection complaint, use the Privacy & Data Request option on the Support page.

Data-protection complaints will be acknowledged within 30 days. SkabStudio will make appropriate enquiries, keep you informed where appropriate, and communicate the outcome without undue delay.

You also have the right to raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Security

SkabStudio uses reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information and account data. No online system can guarantee absolute security. If a personal-data breach occurs, SkabStudio will assess the incident and make any notifications required by applicable law.

Changes to this policy

SkabStudio may update this Privacy Policy when features, service providers or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with its latest update date.
